Kocsis Stops 23 Shots v. Cazenovia

Canton, NY – Freshman goalie Kody Kocsis (Brasher Falls, NY) had an impressive home debut between the pipes stopping 23 of the 35 shots he faced but the SUNY Canton offense was unable to get going as they dropped a 12-5 decision to Cazenovia College on Saturday.

Koscis made eight huge stops in the first quarter as the Roos (0-3) were tied with visiting Cazenovia (1-3) after 15 minutes of play. Trenton Yule (Oswego, NY) scored his third goal of the season with 3:29 remaining to knot the game at one.

Chris Gamble (Carthage, NY) and Skye Sunday (Akwesasne, NY) tallied goals just 32 seconds apart six minutes into the second quarter to give the hosts a 3-2 lead. The Wildcats responded with five consecutive scores to take a 7-3 lead into intermission.

Joe Timm added his third goal of the game 1:37 into the second half as Cazenovia opened up a five goal advantage. Yule added his second goal of the game midway through the third with the man advantage and Brandon Rodee (Canton, NY) slotted his first of the season with the Wildcats on the man-up.
 Andrew Bowes (Irondequoit, NY) led all players with eight ground balls and also caused two turnovers. Jeffrey Perez () chipped in with seven ground balls, while Kyle Smith (Evans Mills, NY) added five pick-ups.

Sunday paced the attack with two assists and a goal, while Yule scored twice. Kyle Kingsley led Cazenovia with four goals, while Timm added three. Eric Hanover chipped in two goals and two assists.

Kocsis recorded a career-high 23 stops, while Alex Delevan made seven saves in his second win of the season.
