CHS BOX SCOREOswego, NY – Oswego State scored two goals each in the first and third periods to earn a 4-0 victory against the SUNY Canton men's hockey team on Saturday evening at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
Kenny Neil opened the scoring at 8:36 of the first when he received a pass from Brandon Adams and buried his 13th goal of the season. With just 1:30 remaining in the opening period Sean Federow slotted his second of the season, this one coming on the power play. The Lakers took a 2-0 lead into first intermission.
Neither team found the back of the net in the middle period as freshman
Josh Erickson (Woodbury, MN) was strong between the pipes keeping the Roos in the game, down just two goals after 40 minutes of play.
Matt Galati netted an important insurance goal with the skater advantage midway through the final period to take a 3-0 lead. The Lakers were whistled for a pair of penalties, one a minor and the other a major as the Roos had their chances to get back in the game but the Oswego State penalty kill came up strong as they held on to the 3-0 victory.
Erickson stopped 22 shots for SUNY Canton, while Matt Zawadski turned aside 19 shots for the hosts.
