Puig Stops 31 Shots on Senior Night

Canton, NY – Senior Louie Puig (Chicago, IL) had a huge night on Senior Night stopping 31 shots but the visiting Oswego State Lakers scored with 52 seconds remaining to earn a 3-2 win on Friday night in the Roos House.

The Lakers (11-9-2) got on the board at 6:23 of the first with 31 seconds left in their first power play opportunity of the night. Matt Galati lit the lamp with the skater advantage on his fifth goal of the season off the setup from Alex Botten. Oswego State held a 9-2 shots edge in the opening period but the Roos held the upper hand in the faceoff dot 9-6 as the visitors took a one-goal lead into first intermission.

Trenton Yule (Oswego, NY) evened the score at one just 1:45 into the middle period when he buried his third goal of the season on a laser of a shot off passes from Dylan Rosen (Clarkston, MI) and Tyler Ralph (Middletown, NJ).

Tom Coakley, who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and is a former
Chair of the Canton College Foundation and current member of the
Board of Directors dropped the ceroemonial puck drop on Military 
Appreciation Night. 
Shawn Hulshof regained the lead for the Lakers just 28 seconds into an extended 5-on-3 situation when he lit the lamp for 10th time of the season off a pass from Matt Galati. Oswego took a 2-1 lead into second intermission.

Erik Hallin (Goteborg, Sweden) rifled a shot top shelf at the 12:09 mark of the third in his second goal in as many games to draw the Roos (5-16-3) even at 2-2. Ralph earned his second assist of the night on the play.

That set up the heroics for Mitchell Herlihey who beat Puig with 52 seconds remaining off a rebound to give the Lakers the win. Puig kept the Roos in the game all night stopping 31 shots.

SUNY Canton honored its four seniors Puig, George Curry (Schaumburg, IL), Joe Casale (Niagara Falls, NY) and Taylor Pickering (Marine City, MI) prior to puck drop.

Tom Coakley, who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and is a former Chair of the Canton College Foundation and current member of the Board of Directors dropped the ceremonial puck prior to the game on Military Appreciation Night.
