Buffalo, NY – Joe Deveny (Stoufville, ON) gave the Roos an early 1-0 lead but six unanswered goals gave host Buffalo State a 6-3 victory on Saturday evening.
The Bengals improve to 4-1-1, while the Roos fall to 1-5-1.
Deveny opened the scoring with nine seconds left on a power play as he buried his first goal of the season off the setup from
J.P. Langlois (Amos, QC). Brody Power responded with back-to-back power play goals from the Bengals and Zach Remers added a third Bengal goal with 3:18 remaining in the opening period. Mac Wood earned a pair of assists on the second and third goal, while Power was also credited with an assist on the final tally as the hosts led 3-1 after one.
Taylor Price, Zach Nieminen and Wood added second period goals to open up a commanding 6-1 lead for the hosts after 40 minutes of play.
Patrick Farnan (Clifton Park, NY) tallied his third goal of the season 6:17 into the third off passes from
Stuart Fierheller (Lindsay, ON) and
Dylan Rosen (Clarkston, MI). The Roos pulled the goalie with 28 seconds remaining and just four seconds later
Joey Vocino (Pickering, ON) netted his third goal of the season off passes from
Josh Sova (Oswego, NY) and
Austin Washkurak (Oakville, ON).
Washkurak made 16 saves over 31:29, while
Josh Erickson (Woodbury, MN) turned aside 16 shots in relief. Ian Sylves made 20 stops for the Bengals.
