CHS BOX SCORE

Clinton, NY – Host Hamilton College scored four second period goals to earn a 5-2 win over the SUNY Canton men's hockey team on Tuesday afternoon.

The win improves the Continentals to 2-0-1, while the loss drops the Roos to 1-6-1.

Neither team found the back of the net over the opening 20 minutes as the hosts held a slim 8-7 shots advantage.

The Continentals got on the board first at the 10:09 mark of the middle period. Jon Stickel netted his first goal of the season off passes from Seamus O'Neill and Nick Ursitti. Hamilton doubled its lead on a 5-on-3 when Neil Conway hit Robbie Murden with a quick pass across the face of goal and Murden lifted a shot top shelf past Austin Washkurak (Oakville, ON). Brandon Willett also earned a helper on the play.

The Roos got one back with 3:20 left in the middle period. Tyler Ralph (Middletown, NJ) hit Kasey Kulczycki (Laval, QUE) with a breakout pass as he skated in on a breakaway and deked the goaltender lifting a shot over the stick of Charlie Fennell to trim the deficit to one. Dylan Rosen (Clarkston, MI) also earned an assist on the score.

The Continentals regained the two goal edge with one minute remaining in the period when Murden played a pass from behind the net to Willett out in front who buried a one-timer into the net. With 12 seconds left in the second Ursitti skated in behind net and put home a wrap-around goal to give Hamilton a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Rory Gagnon extended the Continental lead to four at 6:49 of the third on the power play. The Roos responded with their own goal on the skater advantage as Joe Deveny (Stouffville, ON) fed Joey Vocino (Pickering, ON) for his third goal of the season with 3:12 remaining.

Washkurak made 37 saves on the night for the Roos, while Fennell turned aside 18 shots for Hamilton. SUNY Canton went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Continentals were 2-for-6 with the skater advantage.
