Canton, NY – Visiting Alfred State College took a pair of games from the SUNY Canton baseball team to open up a three game weekend set on Saturday. The Pioneers (11-21) took the opener 5-2 before a 10-8 victory in the nightcap against the Roos (9-26).
Game 1Alfred State scored three runs in the second and third to open up the early advantage. The Pioneers added two crucial insurance runs in the top of the seventh. SUNY Canton looked to rally in the bottom of the frame.
Seth Douglas (Reedsburg, WI) ripped a two out triple to score
Wilson Matos (Brooklyn, NY) from first. Matos would come home on a throwing error by the second baseman to get the Roos within 5-2, but a strike out ended the game.

Keenan Shannon (Ballston Spa, NY) gave up two earned runs in one-third of relief action, while
Casey Garcia (Miramar, FL) retired both batters he faced. Douglas led the Roos with two hits and an RBI, while

Christian Nazario-Cruz (Naguabo, Puerto Rico) singled home Schindler. Douglas walked in
