Box ScoreFarmingdale, NY – Chris Gamble (Carthage, NY) found the back of the net three times for SUNY Canton but it was not enough as they dropped a 12-4 road contest to Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon.
The host Rams (2-1) found the back of the net four times in the opening quarter. Gamble would put one in the back of the cage for the Roos with 22 seconds left as SUNY Canton trailed 4-1 after one. Farmingdale was the only team to get on the board in the second stanza taking a convincing 7-1 lead into break.
SUNY Canton (0-2) picked up the intensity out of halftime as Gamble netted a pair of goals just over two minutes apart. The first was unassisted while the second was set up by
Ryan Cardiff (Albany, NY).
The teams then exchanged a pair of goals as
Devin Gruneisen (Potsdam, NY) put a shot past Ram goalie Thomas Fallon to get the Roos within four at 8-4 on the man-up advantage. However, that would be the final offensive of the game for SUNY Canton as Farmingdale finished off the 12-4 victory.
Corey Spuck (Rochester, NY) made 16 saves between the pipes for the Roos. Thomas Fallon stopped 12 shots for Farmingdale, while Frank Prevete and Liam Werner saw time in relief with Prevete adding one save.
Gamble and Gruneisen combined for 16 of the Roos 26 shots, while Spuck posted game-highs of five ground balls and three caused turnovers. The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they visit SUNY Poly beginning at 1 p.m.
