Box ScoreCanton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team controlled play leading throughout in a 74-57 victory against visiting SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry on Wednesday evening in the Roos House.
The Roos (16-5) quickly took control opening up a 16-2 lead after
Walt Jeter (Fort Drum, NY) knocked down his second three-pointer of the game forcing a Mighty Oakes timeout.
SUNY Canton would extend the lead to as many as 17 in the first half but a strong close to the stanza got ESF within 37-26 at intermission.
Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) led the Roos with 11 points in the opening half, Jeter had six points and
Rashad Richardson (Rochester, NY) posted four points and five assists.
The Roos used a 16-0 run over a 4:17 span in the second half to widen its margin to its largest of the game at 27 (58-31) after a
Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) lay-in. SUNY Canton cruised down the stretch as all 13 players who saw action played at least 10 minutes.
Pickett led the way with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting, while Bratton posted 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) tallied nine points and
Scott Bartenstein (Potsdam, NY) and Jeter finished with eight points apiece. Richardson registered a game-high five assists.
Ryan Caldwell was the lone scorer in double figures for ESF (5-14) with 10 points, while Suthod Young added eight points and 17 rebounds. Danny MacElrath also finished with eight in the scoring column.
