Geneseo, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team extended its win streak to six matches with a pair of victories against Oswego State and Medaille College on day two of the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday.
The Roos defeated the Lakers 3-1 (14-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21) before handling the Mavericks 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 25-27, 25-22).
Oswego State jumped on the Roos quickly in its first match of the day earning a decisive 25-14 first set win. Seven errors proved costly for SUNY Canton. The team bounced back in the second stanza with twice as many kills (16) as errors (8) to knot the match at one set apiece with the tight, 25-23 victory. The Roos used methodical play to win three straight sets to close out the 3-1 victory.
Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, NY) paced the Roos flooring 10 kills to go with 18 digs, while
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) posted nine kills and 20 digs.
Rachel Lowther () and
Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) tallied seven putdowns apiece, while
Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) registered 31 digs.
Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) was the catalyst offensively with 33 assists to go with her 11 digs.

at the Geneseo Invitational.SUNY Canton won the first two sets in close battles against Medaille, 25-22 and 25-21. The Mavericks battled back with a 27-25 win in set three that went to extra points. In its closest match of the weekend the Roos prevailed 25-22 in the fourth frame.
Mynter recorded a match and season-high 48 assists to go with 16 digs. Bills had a monster match with a season-high 17 kills and three solo blocks. Grimshaw added 11 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Reynolds produced a strong outing with 10 kills and 14 digs. Cornish registered six kills and 16 digs, while Carroll finished with a match-high 22 digs.
Mynter and Carroll were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances leading the Roos to an undefeated weekend. Mynter was also honored as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
