Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team battled point to point with one of the top teams in the nation but fell in three sets to No. 17 Clarkson University on Wednesday evening in the Roos House. The Roos move to 4-4, while the Golden Knights improve to 7-2.
The Roos started the match strong posting 12 kills in the opening set and just four errors for their highest hitting percentage (.205) of any set on the night. Despite the impressive hitting output the Golden Knights took the opening set, 25-19.
Clarkson dominated the second set, 25-12, as the Roos had nine kills, but six costly errors. SUNY Canton played their best volleyball of the night in the final set playing the Knights point for point through the first half of the frame. A late Clarkson run helped the visitors pull out the 25-20 victory to earn the win.
Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) led the hosts with 11 kills and a .250 hitting percentage.
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) floored eight balls to go with five digs, while
Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, NY) posted six kills without an error to go with eight digs.
Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) finished with 22 assists and eight digs, while
Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) dug up 16 balls.
