Second Half Surge and Hot Shooting Leads Men’s Basketball Past Knights, 73-54



Randolph Center, VT – The men's basketball team shot 53 percent from the field and outscored host Vermont Tech by 15 after halftime en route to a 73-54 win Wednesday evening.
 
Neither team led by more than six in a back-and-forth first half. Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) hit a jumper just before the halftime buzzer to give SUNY Canton a 33-29 lead at break. Fletcher led the Roos with six points.
 
SUNY Canton led 44-39 with 14:17 remaining and over the next seven minutes the visitors used a 20-8 run to open up a 17-point advantage at 64-47. Up big, SUNY Canton was able to cruise to the 73-54 victory.
 
The Roos were on fire from the field hitting 31 of their 58 field goal attempts including a 40 percent (6-for-15) mark from beyond the arc. Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) posted 19 points and game-highs of six assists and five steals, while Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) finished with 11 points and five assists.
 
Fletcher added 10 points and six boards, while Tyler Ellison (New York, NY) registered eight points and seven rebounds. Rashad Richardson (Rochester, NY) chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds as all 12 players entered the game for the Roos.
 
Jamal Hughes posted a game-high 21 points for Vermont Tech, while Tyree Winslow registered 11 points. SUNY Canton held a 50-38 points in the paint edge and the Roos reserves outscored the Knight bench 19-13.
