The SUNY Canton men's basketball team was firing on all cylinders as they cruised past visiting SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry, 94-62, Friday night in front of a packed crowd at the Roos House.
The Roos (3-10) finished with a plethora of season-highs including: field goals made (34), three-point field goals made (10), three-point percentage (50%), assists (19) and blocked shots (7).
The hosts had seven players post eight or more points as all 11 players who checked in for SUNY Canton made at least one basket. Felt tallied a career high 17 points splashing five of his seven trey attempts.
Tyler Ellison (New York, NY) finished in double figures for the third consecutive game tying Felt with a game-high 17.
Scott Bartenstein (Potsdam, NY) drained three of his five trifectas for 11 points, all of which came before halftime.
Annorh proved to be the floor general throughout scoring 10 points to go with his six assists and just one turnover.
Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) posted 11 points, while
Tom Coloney (Harrisville, NY) and
Rashad Richardson (Rochester, NY) produced nine and eight points, respectively.
Kyle Peck opened the game with a hit from long distance for SUNY ESF but the Roos quickly responded tying the game at five a mere two minutes later after Bartenstein hit his first of three long balls on the evening.
After three early ties, it was SUNY Canton who sprinted to a 23-point advantage at 41-18 after big man
Laquan Robinson (Spring Valley, NY) ripped down a defensive board and finished a lay-up on the fast break with 5:10 to play in the opening half. The Roos led 47-26 at intermission behind 13 from Ellison and 11 from Bartenstein.
The Roos continued to keep the foot on the gas pedal in the second half as numerous reserves saw plenty of minutes without losing any production or intensity The Roos cruised to their third victory of the season in convincing fashion, 94-62.
The SUNY Canton defense was stifling forcing the Mighty Oaks to give up the ball 21 times leading to a 23-10 edge in points off turnovers. The Roo reserves provided a huge lift outscoring their counterparts, 46-25. Meanwhile, the quickness of SUNY Canton guards and strong play in the post led to a 48-36 advantage in the paint.
