Gerardo Torres (Theresa, N.Y.) led the Roos (2-11) on Friday going 3-for-5 at the plate with one run and one RBI. Freshman
Kyle Sacks (Clifton Park, N.Y.) doubled, and senior
Michael Zelyez (Brasher Falls, N.Y.), freshman
Braden Giffin (Lake Worth, Fla.) and freshman
Greg Dobies (Schenectady, N.Y.) each singled.
Sophomore
James Amelotte (Cornwall, Ontario) took the loss as he allowed 10 runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Freshman
Khalil Bratton (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) surrendered six runs on seven hits with two strikeouts, and sophomore
Tyler Thomas (Canton, N.Y.) gave up one run on one hit with one strikeout.
The Roos jumped out to a 1-0 lead after one inning when junior
Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, N.Y.) plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. The Nittany Lions tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second inning, and then exploded for 11 runs over the next four innings. SUNY Canton got one run back in the top of the seventh inning after an RBI-single from Torres and one more run in the eighth inning on an RBI-groundout by freshman
Cody Ploughman (Barrie, Ontario).
Dustin Kology smacked three hits, including a triple and drove in four runs to lead Abington.
The two teams square off again on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
