Women's Basketball Sees Win Streak Snapped With 70-52 Loss to Clarkson

Emily Bush
(Potsdam, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton couldn't overcome the outside shooting of Clarkson University as the Knights snapped the Roos three-game winning streak with a 70-52 win Tuesday night in Potsdam.  SUNY Canton fell to 8-10 overall while Clarkson improved to 6-15 with their second win over the Roos this season.

Clarkson knocked down 11 3-pointers, seven coming in the first 20 minutes when the Knights built a 39-22 halftime lead.  SUNY Canton clawed back and was outscored by just a point in the second half but the halftime deficit was too much to overcome.

The Knights also outrebounded the Roos 46-37 and took advantage of many second chances as they grabbed 20 offensive boards to just 11 for SUNY Canton.

Shannnon Lafave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Roos.

Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) added 10 points and five rebounds and Emily Bush (Heuvelton, N.Y.) came off the bench to bury a pair of 3-pointers and score eight points.

Stacey Garcia nailed four triples for 12 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Casey Laush added 10 points, eight boards and three steals.
