High School/Previous Team

• Sara attended Canton High School (Hugh C. Williams) where she played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.
• Named athlete of distinction in all three sports
• In basketball she was named Sami Curtis Sportsmanship Award winner and the Section 10 Nicole Fleury Sportsmanship Award winner of the Central division
• In soccer, basketball, and lacrosse her team won two Section X championships each
• Her lacrosse team made the New York State Final Four for the first time in Section X history, ending the season as the state runner-up
• Captain of her basketball team her senior year
• Played on the club lacrosse team Storm
• Received Rookie of the Year in lacrosse

Career Ambition: I want to become a traveling nurse and see the world. I am interested in specializing in the NICU or working in pediatrics.
What is a Little-Known Fact About Yourself? I love road trips. I look forward to Spring Break with my family every year.  The beach is our favorite place to travel; we all love warm weather. Some of the beaches we have visited are Daytona Beach, FL, Panama City, FL, Madera Beach, FL, Dana Point, CA, and the Bahamas.
Who is Your Personal Hero/Idol and Why? My parents are my idols because I’ve watched them give everything they have for the people they love. They’re the ones who never miss a game, always remind me what I’m capable of, and believe in me more than I believe in myself.

Why Did You Choose SUNY Canton? It is close to home; I am very family oriented. The nursing program fits my needs perfectly and I also got the opportunity to continue my athletic career.  I love that SUNY Canton is a close-knit community in a small town.

What do you like most about your sports team/coach at SUNY Canton? How supportive both my coach and teammates are. Coach Todd always pushes us to be our best while still caring about us as people, not just athletes. My teammates make me excited for every practice and game. We encourage each other, celebrate each other’s successes, and make even the hardest days fun. Being part of a team where everyone genuinely has your back is what makes playing lacrosse here so special.
