Vincent Pietrangelo enters his fourth season with the SUNY Canton men's hockey program during the 2019-20 academic year and his first as Associate Head Men's Hockey Coach after being promoted in July 2019.

Pietrangelo played a crucial role in guiding the team to its most successful season in the D-III era as they set a new D-III record for wins in a season finishing the 2018-19 campaign at 14-9-2. SUNY Canton went 7-6-1 in games v. SUNYAC opponents. The Roos defeated No. 3 nationally-ranked Adrian College on the road, went unbeaten at home (1-0-1) v. No. 14 nationally-ranked Fredonia (4-2 win, 1-1 tie) and beat Plattsburgh State (3-1) for the third straight time. The Roos also swept Buffalo State (4-3, 4-3), Morrisville State (5-1, 5-4), Bryn Athyn (3-2, 5-3) and split with SUNY Potsdam including a thrilling 4-3 comeback OT win at Maxcy Ice Arena. Canton finished the season winning four straight and seven of its final eight contests. The men's hockey team was named the SUNY Canton Athletic department's Male Team of the Year and also had the department's Co-Senior Male Student-Athlete of the Year (Joe Deveny), Overall Male Student-Athlete of the Year (Mike Cerasuolo) and Male Rookie of the Year (Sean David).

Pietrangelo guided the team to wins over storied programs like Plattsburgh State, Middlebury, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Potsdam, Morrisville State and Stevenson in his first season as an assistant during the 2016-17 season. His players were equally as successful off the ice as 10 finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and were heavily involved in the community.

The Roos won the same number of games in Pietrangelo's second season in 2017-18 including an emphatic 4-3 road win at No. 9 nationally-ranked Plattsburgh State to open the season. SUNY Canton also defeated programs such as Brockport, Cortland and Johnson & Wales and posted a 5-3-2 record on home ice in the Roos House.

Pietrangelo joined the Roos after serving as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at NCAA Division I Ferris State University of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) during the 2015-16 season.

The Bulldogs finished the season 20-15-6 as they captured their first ever conference tournament championship with a 2-1 victory over Minnesota State. The team earned a 5-4 overtime win against St. Cloud State in the West Regional before falling to Denver in the Regional Final.

Prior to his time with Ferris State Pietrangelo was an Associate Head Coach for the Big Rapids High School hockey team under former Ferris State Assistant Coach Tim Blashill.

He was also nominated as Head Coach for Team North of the Meijer State Games of Michigan during the summers of 2015 and 2016 and guided the squad to the bronze medal game in 2015 and a 2-2 record in 2016.

A native of Traverse City, MI, Pietrangelo spent the 2013-2014 season as an Assistant at Big Rapids High School. He initially started coaching during the 2012-2013 year for Houghton High School in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, helping them to titles in both the Lake Superior Conference and Region.

During his playing career, Pietrangelo suited up for Division III Finlandia University of the NCHA, located in Hancock, MI. The defenseman played three seasons for Finlandia before retiring due to injury.

Pietrangelo played in 36 career collegiate games for the Lions. He also played junior hockey for the Metro Jets of the CSHL. In three years of high school hockey with Traverse City West High School, Pietrangelo led his school to three straight Big North Conference championships.

Pietrangelo is a 2015 graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Services Administration and resides in Canton. He is pursuing his Master's degree in Sports Management at SUNY Cortland.
