Zach Denesha

Zach Denesha was promoted to the lead assistant for the varsity men's basketball program in July 2025. He served as the second varsity assistant during the 2024-25 season while also serving as head coach of the SUNY Canton junior varsity men's basketball program.

SUNY Canton won four league games beating teams like Potsdam, New Paltz, Fredonia and Plattsburgh in its first season as a member of the SUNYAC during the 2024-25 season. Senior Eli Larson was recognized as one of SUNY Canton's 2025 Outstanding Baccalaureate Graduate Award winners. He also was tied for the highest male in the SUNY Canton Athletics department with the highest overall cumulative GPA entering the final semester. Six players were named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. 
 
Denesha was a three-year player for the Roos during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, while also a member of the roster during the 2020-21 COVID season. He appeared in 23 career games making one start while scoring 25 points and posting 26 rebounds. Prior to his time with the Roos, Denesha played four years of varsity high school basketball locally at Hermon-DeKalb.
 
“We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Zach Denesha '24 to varsity assistant,” Head Men's Basketball Coach Dylan Seikel said at the time of Denesha's promotion. “Zach has a tremendous amount of respect from our players and will be a fantastic resource for them. He is an alum of our program and will continue to be a great representative of our team. Zach is young, hungry and ready to get started!”
 
Denesha was named to multiple North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Teams during his time with the Roos and will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management from SUNY Canton. The DeKalb native earned First Team All-Northern honors in basketball his senior year, and Second Team All-Northern his sophomore and junior seasons.
