Canton, NY – After an impressive week defensively for the Roos, sophomore
Rylan Walker has been named the Spry SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Walker had an impressive opening week averaging a remarkable 4.92 digs and 1.08 aces per set leading the Roos to a 3-1 record to start the season. She had at least two aces in every match with her best performance coming with a career-high 32 digs and six aces to go with three assists as Canton won a five-set thriller coming from down two sets to one to defeat Fisher on Friday. Her 32 digs tied her for seventh place in a single match in the Roos D-III era record book, while her six aces were tied for the third most in a five-set match in the Roos D-III history. Walker also registered double digit digs with 17 in a 3-1 win at Curry on Friday and 11 in a three-set loss at Trinity on Saturday.
