Canton, NY – Junior Emerson Coulter and sophomore Rylan Walker, both members of the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team, have been named the first Roos of the Week of the 2026-27 academic year.

Coulter was an impressive two-way player leading the Roos to a 3-1 record last week as she averaged 3.07 points, 2.36 kills, 0.71 aces and 3.21 digs per set across four matches. The junior hit at an impressive .292 clip recording 33 kills with just five errors on 96 swings. Her best performance of the week came when she registered 18 kills hitting .313 in a 3-2 win against Fisher on Friday. The Roos came from down two sets to one to win as Coulter was just one kill short of matching her career-high. In a sweep against Paul Smith's she recorded four kills on six attempts without an error hitting at a remarkable .667 clip. Defensively the outside hitter finished the week with 45 digs and an impressive .972 reception % recording 15 digs each in wins at Curry and against Fisher on Friday.

Walker had an impressive opening week averaging a remarkable 4.92 digs and 1.08 aces per set leading the Roos to a 3-1 record to start the season. She had at least two aces in every match with her best performance coming with a career-high 32 digs and six aces to go with three assists as Canton won a five set thriller coming from down two sets to one to defeat Fisher on Friday. Her 32 digs tied her for seventh place in a single match in the Roos D-III era record book, while her six aces were tied for the third most in a five-set match in the Roos D-III history. Walker also registered double digit digs with 17 in a 3-1 win at Curry on Friday and 11 in a three-set loss at Trinity on Saturday.
