Canton, NY – Freshman Braydn Bovee made five saves in the contest, but a pair of first half tallies gave Clarkson University a 2-0 victory against the SUNY Canton men's soccer team on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Golden Knights struck early in the first half when Brody Frankowski took a cross from Marco Meirinho and placed a header in the lower right corner just past the grasp of Bovee to take the 1-0 lead.  
• Clarkson doubled their lead in the 11^th minute with Bodie Smith splitting two defenders and chipping the ball into the lower left corner of the net.
• Bovee made a huge save in the 38^th minute, diving to push a penalty kick just off the goal line and past the post to keep the Roos within striking distance.
• The two teams traded opportunities in the second half, but neither were able to score with the game ending 2-0 in favor of Clarkson.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Bovee made five saves in the loss for the Roos, while Ian Burgos stopped one shot for the Golden Knights.
• Clarkson held the upper hand in shots (13-2), shots on goal (7-1) and corner kicks (9-4).
• Junior Jonny LaFontaine recorded the Roos lone shot on goal.

The Roos will celebrate Senior Day this coming weekend as they host SUNY Cobleskill in a conference match on Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
