Canton, NY – Sophomore Nicole Morrow made five saves in her first career start in goal for the SUNY Canton women's soccer team on Friday evening, as the team battled through an evenly played match against SUNY Delhi that ended in a 0-0 tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Broncos tested Morrow early, forcing her to make three saves in the first 15 minutes.
• Sophomore Kate Whitley almost had a golden opportunity as the ball briefly escaped the grasp of goaltender Morgan Krouse in the 13^th minute, but Krouse was able to regain control.
• Senior Sydney Hoefer had another chance for the Roos in the 19^th minute but Krouse extended to save her blast that was headed for just below the crossbar.
• In the second half, both teams traded opportunities, but it was in the 85^th minute that the Roos had their best chance of the night.  Senior Elly Gamble settled the ball just inside the box and chipped a ball destined for the lower left corner of the net, but Krouse dove, deflecting the ball to junior Kenadie Garrow who one-timed it for the top corner. Unfortunately for the Roos, the shot was deflected by a defender just wide of the cage.
• As the final minutes drained off the clock neither team as able to gain an advantage ending the game in a 0-0 tie.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Statistically, the game was dead even in shots (8), shots on goal (5) and corner kicks (3).
• Hoefer, Gamble, seniors Summer Foster and Sam Scott and freshman Reese Durant all recorded shots on goal for the Roos.
• Morrow made five saves for Canton with Krause matching those five saves for Delhi.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos travel across town to face St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, September 23^rd with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
