Roos Battle Broncos in SUNYAC Opener

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos had a pair of shots that were just off target in the opening 15 minutes of the contest, while Bovee made one early save.
  • The Broncos got on the board first in the 13th minute off a throw in deep in their offensive third. Timothy Donner threw the ball in as Sean Szczotka headed it to Shervens Dufleurant who settled it and quickly fired a right-footed shot into the upper right corner.
  • Bovee saved the next two shots he faced before the Broncos struck again in the 30th minute. Delhi took advantage of a Canton goal kick as Damien Barnes picked up the goal kick and immediately found Sean Szczotska between two defenders in the box on a through ball as he volleyed a one time left-footed shot into the lower right corner.
  • Canton's first shot on target came in the 41st minute when Christopher Guallpa challenged Salvator Meloni with a low shot that was saved.
  • Delhi held a slim 7-6 shots advantage in the first half but placed five of their seven shots on target compared to one shot on goal for the Roos.
  • The Broncos outshot Canton 8-2 overall in the second half but neither team was able to find the back of the net with Andrew Rine registering the lone shot on goal for the Roos.
