Bovee Leads Roos on Road Against Cadets

Northfield, VT – Freshman Braydn Bovee made seven saves for the SUNY Canton men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon, but the Roos dropped a 2-0 decision to Norwich University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sharmarke Hassan opened the scoring in the 26th minute, taking a cross from Shea Perkins and blasting a shot from inside the box past Bovee to give the Cadets a 1-0 lead.
  • Early in the second half the Roos registered a pair of shots on goal from Eli Stone and Liam Winters, but Cadet netminder Victor Kalorin was up to the challenge stopping both.
  • With just 20 seconds remaining, a Canton defender deflected a shot into the Roos cage while attempting to break up a pass from a Norwich attacker resulting in an own goal and giving the Cadets the 2-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Cadets registered eight shots on goal to the Roos three.  Corner kick opportunities favored the home team as well (13-3).
  • Bovee's seven saves tied a season high for the keeper.  Kalorin made three saves for Nowich.

The Roos play their first SUNYAC match of the season, traveling to face SUNY Delhi on Friday, September 18th at 6:00 p.m.
