Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer team is set to open their 2026 season with a pair of home matches beginning on Tuesday, September 1st against SUNY Poly, followed by another home tilt on Friday, September 4th against VTSU Johnson.
 
The Roos will hit the road for the first time on Saturday, September 5th to take on Utica. The team's alumni weekend and game are slated for September 12th. To view the team's full schedule release, click HERE.
 
In their third season as a SUNYAC member, SUNY Canton looks to play spoiler after being voted to finish in 11th place with 25 points, edging out Cobleskill (12 points) and just trailing Morrisville (33 points). Defending SUNYAC champion SUNY Cortland was picked to defend its title with 121 points.
   
 
The Roos roster for the upcoming season features 23 players in total with 13 returners and 10 newcomers in Matt Milograno's third year as head coach.  
 
"I am really excited about our group," said Milograno. "Our returners put in the work from the spring season into the summer and have all come in ready to work and lead this team. The newcomers have added another level of competition and energy to the program and have been great through preseason."
 
Sydney Hoefer and Summer Foster will captain the Roos this season. The duo returns after starting all 18 games last season. Also returning are Elly Gamble, who led the team in goals last season with three, and Maddie Armstrong, who contributed two goals and an assist in 2025.
 
 
Mackenzie Ryan returns in net after recording 153 saves in 17 starts last season.
   
 
The Roos welcome 10 freshmen to the roster. The team features four multi-sport athletes, including Foster and Nicole Morrow, who are members of the cross country team, while Kate Whitley and Kenadie Garrow also play lacrosse in the spring. The newcomers are listed below in numerical order.
