Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer and men's hockey teams hosted a Cancer 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, April 26, 2026, on SUNY Canton's campus. The event was started in loving memory of two parents of SUNY Canton student-athletes: Autumn Thomas (colon cancer) and Andrea Pringle (brain cancer) who passed away after battling cancer.
Through generous support from over 75 registrants and donations at registration, during and following the event SUNY Canton helped raise over $2,500 in donations to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center in Ogdensburg and the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, a place where
Chloe Thomas' mother Autumn spent a lot of time during her battle with cancer.
SUNY Canton plans to host the third annual event next spring.
