Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer and men's hockey teams are hosting their second annual 5K Cancer Walk/Run on Sunday, April 26th, 2026 on SUNY Canton's campus. The event follows the inaugural 5K Cancer Walk and Run that took place last April, in honor of Autumn Thomas and Andrew Pringle, parents of two SUNY Canton student-athletes who tragically passed due to complications from their fight with colon cancer and brain cancer, respectively.

The event will begin at 12 PM on April 26th with registration starting that morning at 11 a.m. The course route can be found on the race website, which will start and finish at the Roos House. Registration for the event is $16.90 (including a $1.90 processing fee). T-shirts are also available for an additional $15 during the registration process. Additional donations can be made and will be split between the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY, and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center in Ogdensburg, NY.

Registration proceeds will go to support the SUNY Canton Women's Soccer and Men's Hockey programs, while all proceeds from T-shirt sales and donations will go to the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center. Registration is open at the above link until April 19th at 11:59pm. After that date interested parties can register the morning of the event (cash and Venmo accepted). There will be gift baskets available to bid for on the day of the event, with proceeds from the raffle benefiting both cancer centers.
