Rochester, NY – After firing the lowest two-round total of the spring portion of the Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship, freshman
Raine Rumble finished in third place and was named the conference's Rookie of the Year recording the lowest four-round score among rookies.
He was also named Empire 8 First Team All-Conference for his top five finish, while teammates
Kahontiio Lazore and
Anthony Marion earned Second and Third Team All-Conference honors, respectively.
Rumble was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year after finishing third overall over the four rounds with a score of 310. He shot a 74 during the first round, 79 in the second round and 80 during the third round, before carding a 77 during the final round, which was the third lowest among all E8 student-athletes. He led all E8 student-athletes by shooting a 157 over the final two rounds on April 19-20.
After an impressive opening two rounds in the fall that saw him in third place after 36 holes,
Kahontiio Lazore finished the four-round tournament with a score of 81 on Monday going out in 39 and coming home in 42. He carded a birdie and nine pars to tie for ninth place overall with a score of 317 (+33). That performance earned him Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference recognition.
Anthony Marion registered a round of 79 (39-40) in the final round, tied for the fourth lowest score of the day, as he totaled two birdies and nine pars. His four-round score of 319 (+35) tied him for 11th individually, good for Empire 8 Third Team All-Conference honors.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2025-26 Men's Golf Tomorrow's Leaders Team. Marion earned this recognition for the Roos. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
"Developing character and integrity is a hallmark of the Empire 8," said E8 Executive Director Chuck Mitrano. "This series is proof that Empire 8 and our member institutions are committed to intercollegiate athletics' important role in higher education."
