Canton, NY – It is with great sadness that SUNY Canton shares news of the passing of David Bradman, a longtime coach for the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse program.
Dave passed away with his family by his side on February 23, 2026 and will be greatly missed.
Bradman started the inaugural SUNY Canton women's lacrosse program in 2012. After posting seven wins in the first two seasons starting the program from scratch, Bradman posted a 19-10 mark over his final two seasons at the helm including a pair of Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament playoff appearances. He then shifted to an assistant coach role over the next 11 years helping lead the Roos to four consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championships and National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament berths.
Bradman spent 24 years as coach of the Canton Central boy's lacrosse and football teams. He amassed 364 wins coaching boy's lacrosse, which placed him 20th on the list of New York State coaches at the time of his retirement from Canton Central. Bradman was inducted into the Upstate New York Chapter of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2008. Bradman was also a physical education teacher at Canton's Hugh C. Williams High School and also served as the school's Athletic Director.
Funeral and memorial services have not yet been announced. The College will send a communication when plans are set and arrange to lower the College Flag in honor of Bradman.
