Canton, NY – Trey Miller, a junior on the men's hockey team, and
Lateef Johnson Jr., a junior on the men's basketball team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Miller stopped 48 of the 50 shots he faced (.960 save %) to lead the Roos to an unbeaten weekend in conference play as they clinched a SUNYAC playoff berth for the second consecutive season. He opened the week with a 36 save shutout, the second of his career, in a 3-0 road win at Buffalo State on Friday. The junior stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period as Canton scored twice in the frame to earn the win. He followed that up with 12 saves in a 5-2 win at Fredonia on Saturday.
Johnson Jr. averaged 22.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game shooting a blistering nearly 66% from the field and 60% from three-point range. as the Roos split a pair of league games last weekend. He opened the week with 23 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in an 86-63 loss to Cortland (18-4, 14-1 SUNYAC) on Friday. On Saturday he nearly posted the second triple-double in D-III era program history (recorded the first earlier this season) with game-highs of 22 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists and five blocks in an 85-79 win against Morrisville. Johnson Jr. ranks second n the SUNYAC in scoring (19.1 PPG), first in rebounds (12.4 RPG), third in total blocks (32), fourth in total steals (42) and fifth in field goal % (53.2).
