Lalonde Notches 100th Career Appearance as Roos Face Cardinals

Canton, NY – Senior Danika Lalonde appeared in her 100th consecutive game for the SUNY Canton women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon, but the Roos dropped a 4-0 decision to the #13 ranked Plattsburgh Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taya Balfour kicked off the scoring for the Cardinals, snapping home a wrister from the top of the circle to give her team the 1-0 lead at 3:30 of the first period.
  • Bailey MacKellar made it 2-0 in favor of Plattsburgh when her shot from the point was deflected past sophomore Alyssa Townsley at 12:29 of the first.
  • After being outshot in the first period, the Roos had a significant edge in the second outshooting the Cardinals 13-5 but could not solve goaltender Chloe Lewis.
  • MacKellar and Molly Riggi added two additional goals in the third period for the Cardinals, making the final 4-0 Plattsburgh.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Cardinals outshot the Roos 37-21.  Junior Riley Andzel led Canton with four shots on goal.
  • Plattsburgh won the battle at the faceoff dot 44-14.  Junior Kylah Small led the Roos with six wins.
  • Both teams finished the game 0/2 on the power play.
  • Townsley finished with a season-high 33 saves.  Lewis made 21 stops for the Cardinals.
  • Lalonde, who finished with two shots on goal, became the first player in program history to reach the 100-consecutive game milestone.
  • The Roos currently sit alone in fifth place in the SUNYAC.  The top six teams advance to the playoffs.
