Roos Reach Triple Digits in Romp of Morrisville

Canton, NY – Sierra Pabo scored 23, four others reached double figures, and the SUNY Canton women's basketball team had one of their strongest all-around offensive games in school history, besting the Morrisville Mustangs 104-66 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos had a strong start right out of the gates, putting 23 points on the Mustangs in the first quarter while Morrisville only had 13.
  • Grace Villnave was in the spotlight in the second quarter, hitting her first career three pointer and then scoring three more points a bit later as the Roos went up by as a much as 18 in the half.
  • The Roos were beating the Mustangs 42-28 at halftime with Sierra Pabo up to 14 points already.
  • SUNY Canton's offense was great in the first half, but spectacular in the second. The Roos scored 11 points in the first two minutes with six belonging to Kat McRobbie-Taru.
  • Hope Aniceto drained a three to put the Roos up 61-31 with 4:26 left in the quarter. The advantage swelled up to 73-37 after three quarters.
  • The Roos showed no signs of slowing down in the final stanza, making shots on nearly every possession they had. The Roos eclipsed 100 minutes with just over a minute left after a Natalie Bush three-pointer.
  • The final score was 104-66 with the Roos scoring 31 points in each of the final two quarters. In the fourth quarter, nine players scored as the Roos were 13-for-21 from the field and 5-for-9 from the three-point line.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pabo led the Roos with 23 points, seven assists, and was second with eight rebounds with the 1000-point scorer not too far away from a triple double.
  • Villnave had a career-high 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting while McRobbie-Taru, Kate Grainger, and Aniceto all contributed with at least 10 points.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll, the conference's leading scorer, put in 22 points on 8-for-21 shooting. Both Abbie Platt and Mia Kaltenbach scored 17 and 11, respectively.
  • In a fast-paced game with plenty of shots early in the shot clock, the Roos shot nearly 48% (40-83) and held the Mustangs to 24-74 (32%). The Roos also had 61 rebounds and doubled the assists of Morrisville (24-12).
