HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the Roos on the penalty kill they got on the board first scoring shorthanded less than six minutes into the game. Trudel and Ethan Rosenhoff skated into the zone 2-on-1 with Trudel leaving a drop pass for Rosenhoff to his left as he buried a one-timer top shelf past the stick of Nazareth netminder Lincoln Crosby.
- Canton doubled its lead six minutes later when Rosenhoff skated behind the net playing the puck out in front to Samuel Moshurchak. He touched the puck forward to Colton Alexander who found Nolan Zotter at the right post as he scored his first goal of the season.
- Nazareth had a slim 12-10 shots on goal edge in the opening period but thanks to 12 saves from Miller Canton led 2-0 after one.
- Trudel netted his first of the game and third of the season midway through the middle period. Jackson Drysdale started the play moving the puck up ice where Braeden Burke and Trudel skated 2-on-1. Burke played a perfect pass from the top of the right circle to Trudel who deked the goaltender and went five-hole for the 3-0 lead.
- Just over four minutes later Joshua Rumolo canned Canton's fourth straight goal when his wrist shot from the point made its way through traffic out in front. Adrian Franco and Trudel picked up apples on the play.
- Nazareth got on the board with 14 seconds left in the middle period scoring on a 2-on-1 as Matthew Schrim found the back of the net off a feed from Ty Oller. The Roos led 4-1 after 40 minutes of action.
- Finn Theriault got the Golden Flyers within two early in the third period. Trailing by two Nazareth pulled Crosby for the extra skater with 3:38 remaining.
- Just 33 seconds later Trudel had a perfect shot from Canton's defensive zone sealing the game with an empty-netter assisted by Nolan Wytrykusz for the 5-2 final.
