Canton, NY – Molly Lenihan, a junior on the women's hockey team, and
Lateef Johnson Jr., a junior on the men's basketball team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Lenihan stopped 24 of the 26 shots she faced (.923 save %) in a 2-0 road loss at No. 15 nationally-ranked Hamilton on Saturday. The junior eclipsed the 1,000 career save mark and now has 1,011 saves to her name in her 2.5 years as a member of the Roos. She becomes the third player in the Roos D-III program history to eclipse the 1,000 career save mark.
Johnson Jr. averaged 25.5 points,13.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game shooting an impressive 61% from the field, 40% from three and 83% from the foul line in a pair of games last week for the Roos. He opened the week with game-highs of 32 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks to go with three assists shooting an impressive 11-for-16 from the field, 2-for-2 on threes and 8-for-9 from the line playing all 40 minutes in a 96-91 loss at VTSU Castleton on Friday. The junior followed that up with a team-high 19 points and game-high 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double, in a last second 79-78 loss at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday as the Roos nearly overcame an 18 point second half deficit. Johnson Jr. shot 6-for-12 from the field and 7-for-9 from the charity stripe and added two steals, a block and assist in 33 minutes of action.
