Pabo Posts 13 Points, Roos Four-Game Win Streak Snapped at Plattsburgh

Plattsburgh, NY – Sierra Pabo scored a baker's dozen, but a big offensive performance by the Plattsburgh Cardinals snapped SUNY Canton women's basketball's four-game winning streak as they fell 74-63 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos had a rough go in the first quarter, falling behind 18-8 in less than five minutes. Despite points by Grace Villnave and Marijke Kroon in the final few minutes, Plattsburgh's lead ballooned up to 27-12 following the first quarter of play.
  • A few minutes into the second quarter, SUNY Canton was down 33-16, but then the Roos got some offense going which benefited from stops at the other end as well. A 10-3 run put the Roos within 10 points with four minutes left in the quarter.
  • The second quarter ended with SUNY Canton trailing 42-34. Sierra Pabo posted 11 points and five assists in the first half.
  • Despite having a bit of momentum going into halftime, the Roos were outscored 11-1 to begin the second half, with Plattsburgh going ahead 53-35.
  • However, then the Roos went on a 13-0 run with five different players contributing points as SUNY Canton made it a game again with the score at 53-48. The Cardinals got a bucket to fall late, and the third quarter ended with the score at 55-48.
  • Once again though, the start to the final quarter was not good for the Roos, and Plattsburgh went out ahead 69-50 with six minutes left. The Roos began a 10-0 run, but a dagger three-pointer late in the game sunk by the Cardinals pushed their advantage to 12 points and SUNY Canton fell 74-63 with time expired.
