HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos could not miss to begin with and a big start to the game led to a 22-3 advantage before six minutes had elapsed. The Roos shot 9-for-13 and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc along with forcing four turnovers.
- SUNY Canton's offense came down to earth late in the first quarter, but they still held a 24-11 advantage after 10 minutes.
- The second quarter lacked pace with plenty of fouls. The Bears cut the SUNY Canton lead to 25-15, but the Roos made nine free throws in the second quarter alone and enjoyed a 42-22 lead at the break. Both Kat McRobbie-Taru and Abigail Rice had eight points.
- Heading into the third quarter, both teams continued to attempt to set the record for most fouls in a game. The Roos scored 10 of the final 13 points of the third quarter, mostly off free throws, and SUNY Canton led 57-31 after the third quarter.
- Grainger made two early threes in the fourth quarter to get the Roos lead up to 63-31 and the rest was history as the Roos went on to win their fifth-straight in the Route 11 Rivalry.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- In addition to Kat McRobbie-Taru's 15 points, Grainger scored 14 and grabbed 12 rebounds to get back to her double-double ways.
- Sierra Pabo, Abigail Rice, and Emma Diehl each scored 10 points to place five Roos in double figures on the night. Pabo also led all players with seven assists.
- The Bears were paced by Lucie Scarpine and DaeLynn Alcock who had 16 and 12 points, respectively.
- The Roos shot 40% (23-57) and the Bears struggled at just 23.5% (12-51) and 3-for-23 from three. SUNY Canton outrebounded the Bears 51-26 and were 24-for-35 from the free throw line. This was the 6th-most free throws attempted and made in a game during the DIII-era for the Roos.
