Norwood, NY – As SUNY Canton is in its second week of spring semester classes, members of the Roos men's and women's hockey teams took time out of their morning to take part in Norwood-Norfolk Elementary and Middle Schools annual Kindness Day on Tuesday, January 27.
Â
Members of the SUNY Canton hockey teams greeted students on their way into school and promoted acts of kindness.
Â
Norwood-Norfolk varsity student-athletes, members of the high school honor society, teachers and members of the local volunteer EMT's and firefighters also took part in the Kindness Day.
This is the ninth year the Roos men's hockey program has taken part in the initiative, and fourth the women's hockey team has participated.

Head Coach
Alex Boak is a graduate of Norwood-Norfolk, while Head Coach Kalie Grant is a graduate of Potsdam and they believe getting the team involved out in the community is important.
Â
"Throughout college giving back to the community was always a high priority," Boak said. "Having our student-athletes participate in something that means a lot to a surrounding community and to the community that I grew up in and helped me get to where I am now, means a great deal to both that school district and myself."
"As coaches we love to see our student-athletes develop relationships and give back to the surrounding community," Grant said. "We would like to extend a big thank you to Superintendent Brooke Ashley and all of the Norwood-Norfolk staff members for including our teams on this special day. It was a very rewarding experience for everyone involved!"
