Canton, NY – Sierra Pabo tied a career-high with 28 points, SUNY Canton went on a 21-0 run in the first quarter, and the Roos women's basketball team earned a 72-41 victory over the Oneonta Red Dragons Tuesday night.

THE BASICS
  • Result: SUNY Canton 72, Oneonta 41
  • Location: Stan Cohen Court – Canton, NY
  • Records: SUNY Canton (15-3, 8-3 SUNYAC) | Oneonta (10-8, 5-6 SUNYAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The tight game only lasted for about three minutes and then the SUNY Canton run commenced. Pabo scored eight straight points herself, then seven other players entered the scoring column in the first quarter, and a 21-0 run put the Roos ahead 26-6 after 10 minutes.
  • The second quarter did not go much better for the visitors. Even with Oneonta scoring the first five points, SUNY Canton went on a tear again with a 14-0 run capped by a layup from Kat McRobbie-Taru which put the Roos ahead 40-11 with just under four minutes left.
  • Chelsie Tyler canned a pair at the line with under a minute left, and SUNY Canton was winning 43-15 at the break.
  • Pabo's scoring spree continued into the second half and the Roos were never in danger, with their smallest lead being 24 points. In the end, 11 players found the scoring column in the 72-41 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pabo's 28 points tied career high for the junior, having previously scored 28 against Clarkson back in November of this season. Pabo was also 79% (11-14) from the field, the 4th-highest single game field goal percentage in the DIII-era (min. 10 attempts).
  • Kat McRobbie-Taru was second on the team with 6-for-10 from the floor in her 12-point game and Kate Grainger scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Oneonta, playing without their second-leading scorer, Lidia Boucher, only had one starter score more than two points, that being Addy Eckert with 11.
  • The Roos shot 46% from the field (26-56), the highest team field goal percentage of the season up to this point. The Red Dragons were held to just 25% shooting (16-63) and were only 1-for-17 from three-point land.
