Fredonia, NY – Kat McRobbie-Taru scored 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting, and the SUNY Canton women's basketball bested the Fredonia Blue Devils 62-54 as they picked up a big road win Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a high-flying start for the Roos, the visitors pulled ahead 12-5 highlighted by a couple threes from Hope Aniceto. However, Fredonia forced some turnovers and got some runouts to take the lead 15-14.
- Late in the quarter, Kate Grainger got hacked on a jumpshot with under a second left and made 1-of-2 at the stripe as the high-scoring affair was knotted at 19 after 10 minutes.
- SUNY Canton fell behind 32-28 but used a 12-0 run to round out the quarter. McRobbie-Taru and Abigail Rice led the way with six and four points respectively, while the Blue Devils were held scoreless in the final six minutes.
- The Roos enjoyed a 40-32 advantage halfway through and McRobbie-Taru had 14 points at the break on 6-for-7 shooting.
- McRobbie-Taru quickly scored two baskets into the third quarter, forcing an early timeout from the home side as the Roos had their largest lead of the game at 44-32.
- The Blue Devils got within five at one point but ended up trailing 53-46 at the end of the quarter.
- The final quarter was evenly played, with the Roos responding on every bucket from Fredonia. SUNY Canton got some defensive stops to finish the game, and by the time the Blue Devils started to foul, it was too late as the Roos went out to win by eight.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- McRobbie-Taru with her 8-for-11 shooting at 72.7%, finished the game with the 7th-highest mark for field goal percentage in a single game during the SUNY Canton D3-era (min. 10 attempts).
- Aniceto had a big night with 14 points on four threes and Sierra Pabo dished out six assists. Kate Grainger anchored the Roos on the glass with 11 rebounds.
- Grace Alexander scored 15 points for Fredonia while Jayssa Snelick had 12 points and 11 boards.
- SUNY Canton shot 34% on the night (24-71) while the Blue Devils were only at 29% (19-65). The Roos got it done the on the glass, beating Fredonia 47-38 as well as points around the rim (30-22).
