Pabo & Grainger Score 20 Each in SUNYAC Win vs. Bears

Canton, NY – Sierra Pabo and Kate Grainger scored 20 points each and Grainger recorded her seventh double-double in nine outings as the Roos improved to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in league play with a 88-67 SUNYAC win over the Bears on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In a high-paced first half with plenty of fouls called, the two teams scored a combined 49 points. Pabo led the way with seven points for the Roos, and Potsdam got 12 free throws down in the first 10 minutes.
  • Neither team led by more than a couple possessions, and SUNY Canton owned a 25-24 lead after the first quarter.
  • The Roos controlled play in the second stanza nearly doubling up the Bears 27-14 to take a commanding 52-38 lead into intermission.
  • The Canton lead ballooned to as many as 21 in the third quarter (63-42) following an old-fashioned three-point play from Kat McRobbie-Taru. The Bears responded with a 7-0 run, but the hosts took a 67-49 lead after three quarters.
  • Potsdam never got closer than 14 points in the fourth frame with Canton expanding the lead to as many as 24 en route to the win.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pabo and Grainger led the offense with 20 points each, while McRobbie-Taru and Ntalie Bush supplied 13 points each. Pabo shot 9-for-16 from the field and added six rebounds and a game-high six assists, while Grainger hauled down a season-best 18 boards for her seventh double-double. Hope Aniceto chipped in nine points and Emma Diehl added seven.
  • DaeLynn Alcock and Lucie Scarpine paced the Bears with 14 points and seven boards each, while Xy"el Bradford added 11 points.
  • Canton shot 41% from the field, 35% from three and 70% from the line, while Potsdam posted marks of 30%, 33% and 79%, respectively.
  • The Roos held the upper hand in rebounds (57-42), second chance points (20-3) and points in the paint (42-24).
