HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles struck first in the eighth minute after a ball crossed near the endline was deflected off a SUNY Canton defender and right to the foot of Nathan Weick, who put it into the top right of the net for a 1-0 Juniata lead.
- The Eagles continued to pressure the Roos the next 10 minutes, but SUNY Canton fought off four corner kicks and three shots.
- However, the Roos conceded a goal in the 18th minute after they committed a foul in the box. A penalty shot ensued, and Gavin Rauhut placed it into the bottom left and Vela dived bottom right given the Eagles their second goal of the game.
- After only one shot attempt in the first 29 minutes, the Roos had five shots in the last 16 minutes of the first half, including two on goal from Demetrius Blake Jr. and another on net from David Bermeo but all were saved by Eagles goalie Maxwell Mattioni.
- The half ended with Juniata ahead 2-0 winning the shots 10-6 as well as shots on goal 5-3.
- In the 54th minute, Jayden Gaynor for the Eagles came in down the left corner before cutting in along the endline. Gaynor found Weick about eight yards in front of the net who touched it once before putting it in the bottom right corner as Juniata went up 3-0. Â
- The Eagles were solid in all aspects of the game the rest of the way, as the Roos could not get a shot attempt in the second half and fell 3-0 to round out the Pennsylvania road trip.
