Roos Battle Hawks in Western NY Road Tilt

Hamburg, NY – Sophomore Hailey Hassos recorded two shots on goal and classmate Mackenzie Ryan made 10 saves but the SUNY Canton women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Ja'Lynn Sanders opened the scoring just under three minutes into the first half.  The goal was assisted by Madison Matuszak.
  • The Roos kept the Hawks off the scoresheet for the remainder of the half and registered five shots on Hilbert netminder Keira McFarland.
  • Acadia Evans scored on a penalty kick 16 minutes into the second frame and Evin Stauffer iced the game for the Hawks, scoring with less than 10 minutes remaining for the 3-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Hassos led the Roos with two shots on goal.  Sophomore Shannon Platt took four shots and finished with one shot on goal.
  • Hilbert had the advantage in shots (25-17) and shots on goal (13-9).  Canton led in corner kick opportunities (5-2).
  • Ryan was solid for the Roos, making 10 saves with six coming in the first half and four in the second.
  • McFarland finished the game with nine stops for the Hawks.

The Roos host Utica University on Tuesday, September 2nd at 4 p.m.
