HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first half ended with a scoreless tie and was an evenly played match with each team having three shots on goal and two corner kicks.
  • At the 51' mark, the Knights won a scramble for the ball right inside the 18-year-box which led to an open shot from Marco Mazzarelli who sent it into the goal for the a 1-0 lead for Mount Saint Mary.
  • The visitors added another goal off a free kick four minutes after their first goal, then dropped in their third goal of the game at 65'.
  • The Roos had a few chances with a couple of shots from Lucas Damon and one by Markel Mosley, but they couldn't place them on target.
  • The Knights pulled away with two more goals late to make it 5-0.
  • Despite SUNY Canton turning on the pressure and a good, off-target look from Demetrius Blake Jr., the Roos were blanked as the timer expired.
