Six Roos Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for Basketball

Canton, NY – Six members of the SUNY Canton women's and men's basketball teams have been named to their respective Academic All-District teams.

The all-district teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on their respective playing surfaces and in the classroom.

To be eligible for the honor student-athletes need to be sophomores or older, maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have participated in at least 90 % of their team's contests or started 66 % of their team's contests. A max of four members per team are eligible to win the award.

Natalie Bartle, Sierra Pabo, Abigail Rice and Sadey Sprabary from the women's basketball team were recognized, while Eli Larson and Bryon Streb from the men's basketball team were honored.

Bartle, a senior Applied Psychology major, carries a 3.9 cumulative GPA. A D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region selection (Region 3) and SUNYAC First Team All-Conference honoree, she started 22 of the 24 games she appeared in led the SUNYAC averaging 14.8 points per game and 3.8 steals per game. Bartle also ranked second in the league with 3.9 assists per game and sixth with 7.7 rebounds per outing. She was a two-time SUNYAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week (1/13, 2/17) and had seven double-doubles on the season. She scored in double figures 20 times and hauled down double-digit rebounds nine times. Bartle score the game-winning basket and free throw in the Roos SUNYAC first round game against Plattsburgh on February 25th.

Pabo, a sophomore Nursing major, carries a 3.7 cumulative GPA. A SUNYAC Second Team All-Conference selection, she averaged 12.6 points per game which ranked second on the team and eight in the conference. Her 2.9 assists ranked second on the team and 10th in the conference while her 1.1 steals were second on the team and 3.6 rebounds were fourth on the team. Pabo shot nearly 42% from the field making a team-high 140 field goals on the season.

Bartle and Pabo will both advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which is expected to be announced on Wednesday, April 16th.

Rice, a sophomore Health Care Management major, carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. She started eight games appearing in all 27 contests averaging 17.5 minutes per game finishing the season with 71 points and 54 rebounds.

Sprabary, a sophomore Health and Fitness Promotion major, also carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. She appeared in 25 games for the Roos averaging 6.0 minutes per game finishing the season with 25 points and 26 rebounds.

Both Rice and Sprabary shared the SUNYAC Elite 20 award, which is awarded to the student-athlete at each of the SUNYAC's championship final sites with the highest cumulative grade point average.
   
Larson, a senior Mechatronics Technology major, carries a cumulative GPA of 3.96. He averaged nearly a double-double per game on 11.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per outing while adding 19 blocks and 17 steals. Larson led the team in field goal % (51.7) and made field goals (108). He finished the season with six double-doubles including season-highs of 31 points and 17 rebounds at Buffalo State (2/7/25).

Streb, a sophomore Homeland Security major, carries a cumulative GPA of 3.86. He averaged 13.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game shooting over 41% from the field while adding 50 assists and 27 steals. He scored a season-high 28 points against Penn State Altoona (11/9/24)
