Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team and Head Coach
Chris Klassen have released the team's 2025-26 schedule. The Roos have a 25 game regular season schedule that includes 12 home games in their second season in the SUNYAC.
The team's slate includes 18 SUNYAC contests with two games each against the other nine conference opponents.
After a pair of scrimmages in late October, the Roos open the regular season hosting Franciscan (11/7) and Delhi (11/9) in the Roos Classic with three total games in three days. After a quick trip up Route 11 to square off with Clarkson two days later. Canton will host Paul Smith's on November 15th before the team plays six straight games on the road.
The road trip includes visits to SUNY Poly (11/18), Russell Sage (11/22) and Utica (12/3) before the team opens SUNYAC play against Morrisville (12/5) and Cortland (12/6) to round out the 2025 portion of its schedule.
The entire 2026 part of the schedule will be within league play as the team plays 16 SUNYAC contests beginning with Oneonta on the road on January 6th. Home league contests include Plattsburgh (1/9), Potsdam (1/10), New Paltz (1/20), Oneonta (1/27), Oswego (2/6), Cortland (2/13), Morrisville (2/14), Buffalo State (2/20) and Fredonia (2/21). The Roos will play their final five league contests at home on Stan Cohen Court.
Road conference games the remainder of 2026 include New Paltz (1/13), Oswego (1/16), Fredonia (1/23), Buffalo State (1/24), Potsdam (1/30) and Plattsburgh (1/31).
The Roos will look to qualify for their second SUNYAC Tournament in as many seasons as the team became the first program in school history to earn a SUNYAC playoff win last February against Plattsburgh. The top two seeds earn first round byes with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds hosting first round games on February 24th. The No. 1 overall seed hosts championship weekend with two semifinal games on February 27th and the championship game on February 28th. The winner of the SUNYAC Tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
