Myrtle Beach, SC – Bradley Mills and
Lance Phillips Jr. each had a multi-hit game but the SUNY Canton baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Wilmington College on Thursday evening in Myrtle Beach.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The Quakers got out to an early lead when Dominic Depa hit a two-run homer in the top of the first to right field.
- Mills and Phillips Jr. started the bottom of the second with a back-to-back single and double before Mills scored after Edilberto Rosado reached on a fielder's choice.
- The Quakers tacked on a run in the fourth on an RBI double from Max Gildea to regain their two-run advantage.
- Canton went down in order in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before looking to rally in the seventh. Mills led off with a single through the right side and Phillips Jr. reached on a fielder's choice but the final two batters struck out as Wilmington held on for the win.
- Mills led the offensive effort going 2-for-3 with a run, while Phillips Jr. and McLean had doubles with Sal Diaz recording the other Canton hit.
- Depa led Wilmington with two hits including a two-run homer. Gildea also had a two-hit game.
- Luke Chappie improved to 3-0 on the season for the Quakers tossing six innings giving up one earned run with three strikeouts. Nathan Power earned the save tossing a scoreless final inning with two strikeouts.
- AJ Campi took the loss for the Roos giving up three earned runs with three strikeouts and four walks in five innings. Keegan Franklin threw two innings of scoreless ball in relief allowing two hits.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Quakers got off to a quick start in the nightcap scoring six runs on five hits and an error in the first inning before adding one run in the second on Depa's second homer of the night as they led 7-0 after two innings.
- Wilmington tacked on two more runs in the fifth on a pair of RBI singles and walked in a run in the sixth.
- Canton scored all three of its runs in the sixth on a bases-clearing three RBI double from Phillips Jr.
- Phillips Jr. led the Roos going 2-for-3 with all three RBI, while Campi, Eliezer Vazquez, Alphonse Fuca and Liam Hohertz had one hit each with Hohertz and Campi also recording doubles.
- Depa, Eli Hollingsworth and Caden Baker had two hits each for Wilmington while combining to drive in eight runs.
- Trent Mendenhall earned his first win of the season on the mound throwing 5.2 innings giving up three runs with nine strikeouts and a walk.
- Kayden Guerin took the loss for the Roos allowing eight earned runs with two strike outs and four hit batters in five full innings.
