Diaz, Campi & Rosado All Record Multi-Hit Outings Against Ursinus

Myrtle Beach, SC – Sal Diaz, AJ Campi and Edilberto Rosado all recorded a multi-hit day as the Roos were within three headed to the sixth inning before ultimately falling 18-3 to Ursinus College on Wednesday at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning scoring on a pair of RBI singles and a wild pitch. Their final two runs were unearned after an error earlier in the inning.
  • Ursinus tacked on two more runs in the third on another RBI single and a two-run homer to left field.
  • Canton got on the board in the bottom of the inning when Eliezer Vazquez plated Diaz on an RBI groundout.
  • Alphonse Fuca reached on an error in the fifth scoring Campi and Campi singled home Rosado in the sixth.
  • The Bears added two runs in their at-bats in the sixth and exploded for 11 runs on four hits and four errors in the seventh inning leading to the run-rule victory in seven innings.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Diaz paced the Roos with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, while Campi and Rosado recorded two hits each. Chris McLean, Lance Phillips Jr., Vazquez and Fuca registered one hit each.
  • Barritt Ross paced the Bears with a 3-for-3 performance with two walks and a home run. Shane Beaver also hit a grand slam for Ursinus, while Jakob Cantor and Peter Balos had two hits each.
  • Alex Grehawick earned the win for Ursinus tossing 4.1 innings allowing two earned runs with two strike outs. 
  • Hunter LaValley took the loss surrendering five earned runs with a strike out and three walks in six innings.

The Roos are back in action on Thursday for a doubleheader with two seven inning contests against Wilmington with first pitch of the opener slated for 3:30 p.m.
