Roos Battle #7 Oswego State

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's hockey team kept #7 Oswego State off the score sheet in the first period, but three second period goals and two more in the third gave the Lakers a 5-0 victory over Canton on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first period, the Lakers Sophia Kyrkostas scored just 53 seconds into the second stanza, beating sophomore Molly Lenihan glove side to put her team up 1-0.
  • Mack Hull put the Lakers up 2-0 at 6:21 of the second and Megan Smith added another tally just 41 seconds later to give Oswego a 3-0 after two periods.
  • Jenna Majewski and Elizabeth Cooley added third period goals for the Lakers to make the final 5-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Oswego outshot the Roos 30-23.  Sophomore Anna Pavlasova led the Roos with four shots on net.
  • Faceoffs were even with each team winning 26.  Sophomore Isabella Paswaters had a team-high nine wins.
  • Canton was 0/2 on the power play, the Lakers were 0/1.
  • Lenihan finished with 25 saves for the Roos and her counter part Lexi Levi had 23 stops for the Lakers.

The Roos face Oswego again tomorrow afternoon for Senior Day with puck drop at 3:00 p.m.
