Townsley Records First Career Shutout, Bickford Nets First Career Goal in 4-0 Win

Canton, NY – Alyssa Townsley recorded a 30 save shutout, the first of her career, and Ally Bickford scored her first career goal, the game-winner, as the Roos earned a 4-0 win against Chatham on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got on the board first at 6:15 of the opening period when Bickford picked off a pass at the Canton defensive blue line and skated in on the breakaway. She beat Cougars net minder Sam Brophy high glove side for the early lead.
  • Canton held a 16-8 shots on goal advantage in the first period taking a 1-0 lead to first intermission.
  • The Roos doubled their lead this time at 6:15 of the second period when Riley Andzel scored at the far post off a loose puck on a rebound. Isabella Paswaters and Bailey Cote earned helpers on the play.
  • Chatham owned a 16-12 shots advantage in the second period as Canton led 2-0 after 40 minutes of action.
  • Kamryn Barnes scored her second goal in as many days when she lit the lamp on a wrist shot from the high slot with the skater advantage at 17:59 of the third period. Joey Schemenauer and Anna Pavlasova picked up assisted on the play.
  • The Cougars pulled the goalie for the extra attacker with 1:30 remaining and 25 seconds later Paswaters scored an empty-netter. Chamonix Jackson and Andzel were credited with assists on the play.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Andzel and Paswaters led the Roos with a goal and assist each as eight different Roos registered a point.
  • The goal for Bickford was her first collegiate tally.
  • Townsley stopped 30 shots including 16 in the second period for her first career shutout.
  • Brophy made 45 saves in the loss for the Cougars.
  • Canton went 1-for-5 on the power play while killing off their two penalties.
