Jackson Nets Hat Trick, Roos Beat Trailblazers

Canton, NY – Junior Chamonix Jackson scored three goals with sophomore Bailey Cote and freshman Taylor Stoll chipping in two more each as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 9-0 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jackson opened the scoring at 5:41 of the first period, netting a short-handed goal to put the Roos up 1-0.  Senior Danika Lalonde earned the assist.
  • Juniors Abby Tate and Kyla Small added goals midway through the first period to give Canton the 3-0 lead.
  • Stoll earned her first collegiate goal at 16:40 of the first, deflecting a point shot from senior Lucy Beal to put the Roos on top 4-0 through one.
  • Jackson potted two more goals in the second period and Cote scored her second of the season at 18:25 of the second stanza.
  • Stoll scored just 27 seconds into the third and Cote scored with a low angle shot at the six minute mark to give the Roos the 9-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Jackson's hat trick was the first multi-goal game of her career and gives her four goals and five points on the season.
  • Cote's two-goal effort gives her four points on the season with three goals and an assist.
  • Beal earned four assists on the night, junior Anna Pavlasova had three and senior Ashten Morris and junior Jordan Caroccio rounded out the multi-point players with two assists each.
  • Canton was 0/1 on the power play with MCLA going 0/3.
  • The Roos were dominant at the faceoff dot, winning 41 of the 61 draws.
  • Sophomore Alyssa Townsley stopped all eight shots on goal for the Roos, earning her second career shutout.
  • Kaitlyn O'Brien made 49 saves for the Trailblazers.
