HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos maintained possession in the Morrisville end of the field for the first few minutes of the game, leading to two early shots on goal by Kate Whitley and Summer Foster.
- In the ninth minute, the Mustangs got a long through ball down the center of the field and both Haylee Buysee and Callie Lafontaine for the Mustangs were out ahead of the defense.
- Goaltender Mackenzie Ryan blocked the first shot from Buysee, but the ball ended up with Lafontaine who put it into the net before Ryan or the defense could recover.
- After the goal that gave the visitors a 1-0 lead, the Roos put up plenty of shots the rest of the half, including three by Shannon Platt and two by Nicole Morrow although none of these shots were close to the net, and the saves were not substantially difficult for goalkeeper Alyssa Denton.
- The first half ended with SUNY Canton holding a 9-5 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in shots on net, despie trailing 1-0.
- In the 50th minute, Lafontaine beat the Roos defense to net her second goal of the day as Morrisville now enjoyed a 2-0 lead.
- The Roos offense continued to put on the pressure, and about five minutes after the Mustangs second goal, Foster put up two good looks on net right at the top of the 18-yard-box, but both were right at Denton for the routine save.
- Kenadie Garrow and Sam Scott both had shots on target in the 71st and 87th minutes respectively, but the Roos failed to capitalize on their double-digit shot total and dropped the game by a pair of goals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Total shots were 14-12 in favor of the Roos and the hosts also won shots on goal 11-8. 11 shots on target were a season-high for SUNY Canton and it's the first time this season that they have had more shots on net than their opponents.
